catch up

We've had my lovely parents, aunt, and cousins from Mexico in town visiting us for the past week and a half.

I took a break from the world to enjoy every moment with them. It's been an awesome 1 1/2 weeks full of love, laughing, playing, partying, dancing and lots of eating. Now that they're off, I've got lots of cleaning, blogging, working out, and catching up to do.

birthday bash: 5/5

ok. this is the last day celebration.
but i think every family throws a special birthday sunday dinner for the birthday person.
or at least we do in my family and in eric's. this was eric's special dinner (minus photos of the actual delicious meal my mother-in-law worked so hard to make).

she can't walk but she can drive

Grandma got the girls their very own little cars.

Leila and Audrey both learned how to ride them last Saturday. In the morning they were wobbly and unsure. By that afternoon, they were pro's and were racing each other down the driveway. Even the little neighbor kid joined in on the fun and each of them won a race. It was a car racing party.
Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up! It's car racing time!
Asher is adorable...his facial expressions crack me up. I guess he's obsessed with helmets and wears them all day. Apparently, he heard kids playing outside while taking his bath and said he wanted to go outside and play with them. So they put on his diaper and joined in on the fun.

Leila doesn't need to walk, she can drive herself wherever she wants to go. Whether she wants to look at flowers, touch the grass, go in the kitchen...she can drive herself. It's very convenient.

It's her new favorite thing. If Grandma hadn't bought it for her, I probably would have never thought about it. That's why grandma's are the best and know exactly what to give their grand babies.

All Leila wanted to do the next day was ride her car. She had a blast....and it SAVED me at work last week. Leila drove it around the office and it kept her entertained while I helped tenants and did my thing.

out of towners

We love when Kimberly comes to town, thankfully we get to see her every other month. Leila loves her cousin Audrey and it was even more apparent during this visit. This time Grandma had all sorts of activities planned for the week so we were go, go, go.

We went Thanksgiving Point Children's Garden and played in the water and the sand.

Then headed over to Wheeler Farm and saw tons of farm animals...we were even lucky enough to watch the cows being milked.

Went to the park.

Leila got her toes painted for the very first time.

And played in the backyard.

We stayed at my in-laws from Wednesday to Sunday and it felt like we were on a little vacation. It was nice to get away from our routine for a few days and have a full house...the help with Leila was also a plus. See you in November Kimberly.

162/365

I've worked from 8:30-5:00 for the past 3 Saturdays in a row and it's sucked! I can't wait to have my Saturday's back so I can enjoy the summer with my little fam and do activities outside - hiking, swimming, picnicking, camping, roasting s'mores, etc.

Eric went up to his parents to put his handy man skills to work by repainting the vent on the chimney. I wasn't there to capture the magic so Eileen thoughtfully took photos for me and played with Leila so I can get some work done.
Grandma and Grandpa have been so involved in Leila's little life, they love tending and nothing makes us (and them) more happy. In the past 10 days they've watched LM 4 nights so we can go to the temple, go to 2 concerts, and do adult stuff like shopping for a new car. They seriously have been so great and I don't know what we would do without them...probably not go anywhere alone.

Oh, and Leila, you've given your grandma a run for her money because you pooped in the tub for the very first time when she bathed you. Glad it happened to grandma because she knew just what to do. She must love you. You'll have to thank her when you're older.
We all know that living a safe distance away from the 'rents is ideal, but since we've had Leila and since they are pretty much the only ones that watch our princess, I'm tempted to move even just a block away from them (ok..not really but it'd be oh so convenient). We love them so much and are thankful for all they do for us and LM.
