134/365

I rekindled my childhood wonder at the San Francisco Zoo today. It feels like just yesterday that I was here, running around and in awe of the exotic animals. I know Leila's young, but I enjoyed giving her the opportunity to learn about the animals. She was such a good little girl at the zoo and I know it's because she was distracted and intrigued by all the beautiful living things around her.

The great thing about having kids is you have more reasons to do fun things. Of course you can go to the zoo if you don't have kids, but it's much more exciting with your little one in tow.
This zoo makes me feel like I'm in Jurassic Park. There are gorgeous, mature trees everywhere and the park is so lush and fresh. Extra perk: it's right next to the Pacific Ocean.
My dad and his bolo hat...gotta love it.
Look...Kellie turned into a spider and Leila a peacock!
When we came across the Lions, Eric turned to me and said "Mufassa". He calls me Mufassa when my hair turns into a fro (never pictured of course).
We ended the day at Fog City Diner where Leila had her first taste of truffled fries.

126/365

Spring wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Tulip Festival. The festival is nearing its end so we had to hurry our little heinies over there before they pulled the tulips all out.
Ok...not really.

Look at that ginormous fry!

I'm a picture fiend and ended up taking more pictures of us with Leila than the tulips themselves - Leila was a lot more fun to photograph. I suppose that's an excuse to go again this summer, need to get more pics of the flowers. The grounds of this place are immaculate and seem to be never ending...I can't get enough of this piece of heaven.

joel mchale

friday night eric and i went to abravanel hall to see joel mchale. he is a comedian and has his own show on the E network called the soup. he makes fun of all the reality shows/stars and is hilarious...i just love him! we contemplated buying one of his shirts so he could sign it but didn't want to wait in the long line...i decided to get a picture of him signing someones shirt instead. he did a lot of bits from the soup, but also had plenty of other material...mostly his family. i'd love to see him again.
it was the first time i'd been to abravanel hall...its such a cool place, awesome woodwork, chandeliers hanging that look like jewlery, and a beautiful glass work masterpiece right in the lobby.

4 months in a nutshell

So the year has flown by too fast...I just wanted to share a little of what we've been up to:

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL
We went to the Sundance Film Festival in January. We love going because of the crazy atmosphere...and all the celebrities of course. This year was the first time we were able to see a film, we got lucky and someone was selling their tickets for a great movie that barely made it to the festival, we didn't even have to wait in line. The movie was: The Winning Season. What's amazing about seeing the premire of a move at sundance is the whole cast is watching it with you, we didn't even realize this but one of the actors was sitting right behind us. When the movie was over the director came up and talked about the movie, so did the actors that were in it and we had time for questions and answers. It was an amazing feeling to be with these talented actors and actresses, especially the director. It was a great movie, a must see!
DRAPER TEMPLE OPEN HOUSE

We went to the Draper Temple Open House, it was an experience to remember. I've never been to an open house so I was especially excited. It was amazing to me how organized everything was, from the video at the church, to the transportation, and everything in between. We loved it, especially for how strongly we could feel the spirit. We're looking forward to the West Jordan Temple to be finished so we can do it all over again.

SNOWBOARDING

MCHAMMER/VANILLA ICE CONCERT

We got free VIP tickets through our Scion car club; free food, free dessert, great seats, and good company! It was an ok performance, but what can you expect when Orem, UT is the ONLY show/concert they did! I fell asleep during McHammer but that doesn't say much, I could fall asleep anywhere, anytime! We weren't too impressed with Vanilla Ice, but it was still fun, better than sitting at home. The most entertaining part was watching everyone dressed up in their 80's gear, a lot of people went all out, I was surprised!
MONSTER CIRKUS

Our buddy Lief from Arkade Magazine organized an awesome show in downtown SLC. It was an afternoon full of concerts, snowboard jibs, and freestyle motorcross, all in the heart of the Gallivan Center. Lief is hoping to turn this into a yearly event so come on out for the fun next year!
