vd

vd this year was perfect. why? because eric took the day off work to spend just a normal day at home with his two favorite girls. we didn't have anything special planned because eric wanted to do the things we normally do on a tuesday.

that was the most thoughtful gift he could give us. i mean, who doesn't want to spend more time with their hubby...and on a weekday. it was lovely.

loving the balloons

i woke up to eric by my side in bed and flowers in the kitchen. i attempted to make a romantic, heart themed breakfast in bed but that doesn't really work with a toddler, so we eric made us yummy spinach feta omelets.

thanks to pinterest, i found the perfect amount of "cheese" for eric's gift. grabbed a balloon for each year we've been married and tied a little note with a treat/gift corresponding with the reason why i'm grateful for him.

the only thing on the agenda was wiggle worms at the library because that's what we do on tuesdays. we didn't ever make it because leila decided to take an early nap and slept right through it. while she napped we played around with a new app erin showed me.

don't mind the spelling error. it was 10am and i was still half asleep. if you can't tell these are pre-shower and post-shower pics.

after 2.5 hours of napping, we decided to wake her up so we could go to lunch and have an afternoon date at a bounce house place. please ignore the blurry iphone pictures.

at the last minute, we decided to go to dinner and a movie because grandma offered to play with leila. big miracle = A++++!

sugar cookies

confession...i've never made sugar cookies. so when ashton asked if i wanted to make some for vd with the kiddos, i was excited to finally be able to say i've made them. 

leila approved, they were yummy.

Trick or Treat

I totally winged Leila's bun hat and it worked out. I pounded that out in less than 30 min (experimenting mostly) and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out. Except for the fact that it kept falling off causing her little blondies kept poking out.

Eric had everything in his closet for Justin Bieber and was almost embarrassed by it. His facebook post said, "Not quite sure how I should feel about the ease of putting together my complete Justin Bieber costume straight outta my own wardrobe". The light grey skinnies, the purple hoodie, the purple jacket, the shoes, the hat, and almost the hair...he's my real life Justin Bieber. For my costume I just made a fan sign and added "I heart JB" on one of Eric's hats. Easy peasy. Not bad for putting it together last minute.

It was a perfect Halloween night, like in the 60's, but we still opted to go trick or treating at the mall. Should've gone door to door like I originally planned but neither one of us - the Crocketts - have neighbors so which neighborhood would we go to? The one that hands out full size candy bars. What am I talking about, we're in a recession. No one hands out full size candy bars anymore. So the mall it was. Little did we know that trick or treating at the mall was from 5-7 and we got there at 7:30. We should've hit up In N' Out after the mall.

Luckily, there were a few stores that still had candy and Leila seriously got 5 pieces. We'd be the ones to eat it anyway so it's all gravy. Next year we're definitely going door to door. Leila was much more into the tricks than the treating. Lately, all she wants to do is push her stroller around, seriously didn't want to do anything else, and didn't have an interest in getting candy. But did gobble up one fun size M&M's.

Chelsey put all of us to shame with her legit CocaCola costume...and SHE MADE IT! That girl is the busiest woman I know, has 2 real jobs, a 10 month old, and still has time to craft? What? She whipped that thing up like it was nothing, and all from scratch. No tutorial. Talent right there.

McKay also picked something out of his closet. Can you tell what he is? A trucker. Flannel's are apart of his everyday wardrobe so it doesn't really count.

Now that the Halloween Festivities are over it's time to take down the decorations - okay I actually never got around to putting them up - and bust out the Christmas music! 

Happy Halloween!

Don't have too much planned for tonight, we'll probably just take Leila trick or treating with some friends. I've kinda slacked off this year and have procrastinated our costumes. Well, I procrastinate everything so that's nothing new. I don't go Christmas shopping until a week before Christmas and don't send out birthday cards until AFTER someone has had a birthday. It's the Mexican in me, what can I say. I'll try to be on top of it this Christmas and will actually send our Christmas cards on time. Last year they didn't even make it out!

Back to Halloween. I still need to complete Leila's costume. I was going to get ambitious and make her a Princess Leia costume but just never made it a priority and we didn't have huge plans this year so that's my excuse.

Well, now it's October 31st and we still have no costumes...for all 3 of us! So this year Leila is stuck with an outfit that Abuelita sent her - but it's so cute and thought it could be her Halloween costume anyway so no biggie. She's gonna be a little geisha. And she'll be the cutest geisha around! I still need to make her a little hat with a bun. I really wanted to dress up as a family but better luck next year. Eric will probably be Justin Bieber and I'll be a crazy Bieber fan! I know it's a cop out because everything we need for the costume will just come out of our closet. Oops!

Two years ago Eric and I were Juno and Paulie Bleeker, little did I know I was actually like 2 weeks pregnant!

Last year, Eric was the paparazzi and I was a celebrity...Leila was just a little 3 month old skeleton.

We'll see what I can pull out of my magic cap today.

Anyway, we've coped out on the costume but not so much on the festivities...

Rachel and Ben have a cute tradition of carving pumpkins while eating chili in bread bowls and invited us to join in on the fun. It's the season of soups, hot chocolate, and cider so why not enjoy it while carving pumpkins? It's perfect and am totally stealing it for next year.

It was a nice change having the boys around for our monthly GNO.

We didn't get around to carving pumpkins because we had too much fun talking so it gave us something fun to do yesterday.

Leila didn't really appreciate getting her hands dirty.

Pumpkin Time!

Ohhh yeah, it's pumpkin season and my favorite part of October! I love everything about pumpkins... picking them, eating them, decorating them, and getting my hands dirty with them. 

This years pumpkin picking was the best one yet because we were able to include Leila in our tradition. She slept the whole time on her first trip to the pumpkin patch but sure made up for it this year. 

We found the perfect little pumpkin patch in Payson, it was complete with a band, pony rides, a petting zoo, games, hay rides, bounce houses, and tractors. The best part: there weren't that many people so we were able to join in on all the fun without the lines and crowds.  

We ended the night by playing the fishing pond game. Where you "throw" the pole into the "pond" and someone attaches a toy at the end of it. Felt like I was in the old movie Pollyanna, love that movie. Leila's our perfect excuse to join in on all the festive fun...I mean when else can we play in the petting zoo, ride a pony, and fish for toys? So looking forward to the holidays this year.
