birthday bash 3/5

the day of his birth eric got:

-a yummy homemade breakfast
-card from leila
-a hilarious sound card from me that leila helped me pick out. she yelled "puppy" when she saw it at the store and wouldn't stop opening and closing it in the shopping cart because of the funny sound message it said inside. i had to get it. too perfect.
-a tagged car
-sushi for lunch

we had intentions of going sledding at soldier hollow. we packed our snow clothes, dropped the baby off at grandma's, and headed up parley's canyon. on our way up there we decided to call and see how late the sledding hill stayed open. turns out by the time we would have made it to heber they would be closing soon so my birthday plans for eric went out the window.

we didn't know what to do. it was just me and the birthday boy sans baby. no plans. just us. you'd think we'd have a laundry list of things we wanted to do...nope, there was just one thing. shopping. eric desperately needs clothes so i wanted to spoil him a little (with his wallet). shopping without a baby is heaven. unfortunately, we striked out at nordstrom rack and didn't find anything. we were getting hungry and shopping on an empty belly is a no no. it was time for dinner.

we heard about this hipster restaurant in the heart of downtown called Eva. it's a mediterranean place where they serve small plates. probably the only happening restaurants on main street because there was a gathering of people outside the door. we squirmed into the tiny restaurant and they said it was an 1.5 hr wait. it didn't look like a place to bring leila and looked pretty rad inside so we hoped the wait would be worth it and put our names on the list. we took a stroll downtown, people watched, cuddled as we walked to keep warm, and checked out city creek...it was romantic and just what we needed.

salt lake really is working hard to make downtown a cooler/more happeneing place to be, it's getting there and i can't wait for city creek to open.

this is the size of the whole place.

we finally got seated...at the best/worst table in the house. right next to the window but practically in the middle of the waiting area. i felt claustrophobic watching people almost bump into eric and watching me eat as they waited...but despite that, everything else was amazing. the service was superb and the food was off the hook. since it's small plates we ordered 4 things off the menu, which is what they recommend. the gnocchi and brie pizza were our faves. we'll have to go there again...soon.

we used to go out to eat all the time but now it's a real treat...especially when we can focus on each other.

happy birthday eric, i love you. this is the last year of your 20's. you're getting old be you still look the same to me...and always will. and you know in my eyes that the older you get the sexier you'll be. i would spend this day with you again in a heartbeat. it was a day of good food, great conversation, and even better company.

birthday bash 2/5

Then we had a birthday celebration with the fam at Fat Cats for some good ol' bowling fun.

birthday bash 1/5

First, we kicked off Eric's 29th birthday bash at his bro's house for some homemade pizza and cheese pull aparts. The pull aparts were so yummy and tasted just like the Pie's. Mmm.

more bouncing

When we lived in Orem, we would always be in Salt Lake because it was more "happening" up here and this is where Eric's fam lives. It never seemed very far and we didn't think twice about the commute. Now that we're up here it feels like Utah County is forever away, even though it's not.

We miss our friends down south so when the Mommies Playgroup hosted a play date at Jump Around Town we couldn't pass it up, especially since jumping was only $1.

Leila and I needed to get out and do something fun, so mix jumping with friends and it was a perfect afternoon.

snow day

we've been waiting for a snow day. it hasn't really dumped all winter. we got a couple inches in the valley on sunday so we jumped at the opportunity to play in our backyard before it melted. we were so excited for leila to play outside that we skipped breakfast and put on our snow clothes first. glad we were finally able to bust out the snowsuit and boots we bought leila earlier this year.

it was leila's first time playing in the snow, at first she was a little unsure and confused as to why she was bundled up so much. but she soon realized it was fun and didn't even try to take off her beanie and "mittens" (we don't have any so she's just wearing my fuzzy socks secured with an elastic around her wrists). she enjoyed eating it too.
